Privacy Policy

247workplace ("247workplace", "we", "us", "our") operates 247workplace.com and the 247workplace mobile app — a marketplace connecting people in Ghana ("seekers") with verified service providers, businesses and institutions ("providers"). This policy explains what personal data we collect, why, how it's stored and protected, who we share it with, and how you can access, correct or delete it.

We handle your data under the Ghana Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843), and aim to meet the same standard of transparency expected by GDPR and similar laws, regardless of where you're accessing 247workplace from.

1. Information we collect

What we collect depends on how you use 247workplace. We only collect what we need to run the marketplace and keep it safe.

Account information

  • Full name, phone number, email address, and the password you set (stored as a one-way hash — we never see or store your actual password).
  • A profile photo, which you upload at registration.

Identity verification (KYC)

To keep the marketplace trustworthy, every account verifies its identity at registration:

  • The type and number of a government-issued ID (Ghana Card, Driver's License, or Passport).
  • A photo of that ID document.

Face verification (optional)

If you choose to turn on face verification as an extra login step, your browser computes a mathematical description of your face (128 numbers) and sends only that to us — never a photo or video. We can't reconstruct a photo of you from this data. You can turn this off at any time in Account Settings, which permanently deletes it.

Location

  • Your residential region, town/city, community/area, and street address — typed in or filled from your device's GPS if you tap "Use my current location".
  • For providers: the same details for each business location/branch, so seekers can find you by proximity.
  • Precise GPS coordinates (latitude/longitude), only when you explicitly choose to share your device location.

Business information (providers only)

Business or organisation name and description, the services/categories you offer, years of experience, business registration number and licence document (if applicable), emergency contact details, and photos of past work ("portfolio").

Marketplace activity

Job requests, quotations, invoices and payment records (the amount and method — e.g. cash, mobile money, card — not full card numbers), orders, products, reviews and ratings, and messages you send through our in-app chat (including any files you attach).

Communications

If you contact us directly (e.g. the Contact page), we keep your name, phone number, email and message so we can respond.

Technical data

Your IP address and browser information, used to keep accounts secure (e.g. detecting suspicious login attempts and blocking automated bot traffic) and recorded in a security log alongside actions like logins and password changes.

Cookies

We use only the cookies needed to run the site: one to keep you logged in (session cookie) and one for security (CSRF protection). We don't use advertising or analytics cookies, and we don't sell or share your data with ad networks.

2. How we use your information

  • To create and secure your account, and verify you're a real person with a genuine identity.
  • To match seekers with nearby, relevant providers, and to display provider profiles.
  • To process job requests, quotations, orders and the invoices/payment records tied to them.
  • To send OTP codes, account notifications and service updates by SMS and/or email.
  • To send service/product updates by SMS or email if you've opted in — you can opt out at any time in Account Settings.
  • To investigate abuse, fraud, or violations of our Terms of Service, and to block malicious or automated traffic.
  • To respond to support requests sent through the Contact page.

3. Who we share it with

We don't sell your personal data. We share it only with the service providers that help us run 247workplace, each bound to only use it for the service they provide us:

  • Amazon Web Services (S3) — stores uploaded files (photos, ID documents, licence documents, portfolio images, chat attachments).
  • Arkesel — delivers SMS messages (OTP codes, notifications) to your phone number.
  • Resend — delivers transactional emails (OTP codes, notifications) to your email address.
  • Railway — hosts our application servers and database.
  • OpenStreetMap (Nominatim) — when a provider uses "Use my current location" while setting up a branch, we send those coordinates to OpenStreetMap's public lookup service to suggest the matching town/region.

We also share what's necessary to make the marketplace work between users themselves — e.g. a seeker can see a provider's public business profile, and the two parties in a chat or job request can see each other's name and the details they've shared with each other directly.

We may disclose information if required by Ghanaian law, a valid legal process, or to protect the rights, safety or property of 247workplace, our users, or the public.

4. How long we keep it

We keep your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account (see below), we erase your personally identifying data immediately. We retain anonymised records of completed transactions, invoices and job history for as long as needed to meet our legal, tax and accounting obligations, and so the other party to a job or order keeps their own record of it — but these records no longer show your name or contact details once your account is deleted.

5. Your rights, and deleting your account

You can:

  • Access and correct most of your information directly in Account Settings at any time.
  • Opt out of marketing SMS/email in Account Settings, without affecting OTP codes and essential account notifications.
  • Turn off face verification at any time in Account Settings — this permanently deletes the stored face descriptor.
  • Delete your account and personal data — request deletion here, whether or not you're able to log in. If you're logged in, you can also do this from Account Settings. We confirm it's really you with a one-time code before anything is deleted. See Section 4 above for what's kept and why.

For any other request about your data, email us at hello@247workplace.com.

6. Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your data: passwords are hashed (never stored in plain text), all traffic to 247workplace is encrypted (HTTPS), we offer two-factor authentication and optional face verification as extra account protection, and we automatically detect and block abusive or bot-like traffic. No system is 100% secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information and respond quickly to any issue.

7. Children's privacy

247workplace is not directed at children. Creating an account requires a valid government-issued ID, so the service is intended for users who are legally eligible to hold one in Ghana. We don't knowingly collect data from children, and if we learn we have, we'll delete it.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as 247workplace changes. We'll update the "Last updated" date above, and for material changes, we'll let you know by email or an in-app notice.

9. Contact us

Questions about this policy or your data: hello@247workplace.com or support@247workplace.com. You can also reach us through our Contact page.
